CAVE demo: chemistry molecules
On the visit, the stationary CAVE ran a chemistry demo: molecules in 3D on the walls and floor. It shows how the room can be used for science and teaching.

More informationChemistry demo
Molecules at the size of a room.
Visitors looked at molecules in 3D, picked out parts and explored how the pieces fit together.
See in 3D
View molecules from every side.
Pick and move
Select digital science objects and interact with them.
Explore structure
Look at how a molecule is put together.
Bonds
Show how atoms bond and relate.

Five steps
Before you step in
Keep your shoes on and put shoe covers over them before you step onto the projected floor. Tell every group before they arrive.

See in depth
Tracked 3D glasses let each visitor see the images in depth.

Walls and floor
The molecule fills the walls and the floor around the group.

Point and pick
A handheld controller points at atoms and moves them.

With a guide
A guide at the control station explains what the group is seeing.
